Debbie Loren Dunn is a retired computer scientist and children’s book author. She holds a BA in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, and worked in the computer industry for twenty years, specializing in data mining. She received an MFA from Vermont College, served as a Board Trustee of VCFA, a Board member of The Writer’s League of Texas, and Regional Advisor for SCBWI Austin Chapter. Debbie is the co-author of nonfiction picture books Instructions Not Included (Little Brown BFYR, 2019) and Perkin’s Perfect Purple (Little Brown BFYR, 2020), as well as young adult nonfiction The Real Rosalind (Lerner, 2026). Debbie’s continuing work in nonfiction for all age groups uncovers remarkable events and people that have quietly changed our world. Her joy is researching deeply and bringing readers bravery in unexpected forms. With each book, she hopes to bring a different sense of what courage can look like. Debbie lives in Austin, Texas with her family and 75-pound rescue dog.
