Léa Taranto

Léa Taranto (she/her) is a Chinese-Jewish Canadian writer who spent her childhood reading fantasy. Her adolescence was much the same, except certified in various inpatient facilities for life-threatening OCD and comorbid disorders. Now, as a Simon Fraser University Writer’s Studio alum with a creative writing MFA from the University of British Columbia, she writes prose and poetry where neurodivergent readers can see themselves reflected in her characters. Since mental health does not exist in a vacuum, her writing strives to acknowledge and empower its intersectionalities, including race, ability, gender and sexuality. Find her beachcombing on the traditional, unceded land of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (Halkomelem) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) speaking peoples in British Columbia.
