Léa Taranto (she/her) is a disabled, Chinese Jewish Canadian writer who spent her childhood reading fantasy. Her adolescence was much the same, except certified in various inpatient facilities for life-threatening OCD and comorbid disorders. She writes stories where neurodivergent and/or Mad readers see themselves in her characters, while also acknowledging mental health’s intersectionalities, including race, ability, gender, and sexuality. Her memoir short-story “2 South”, is featured in the anthology, Upon a Midnight Clear: More Christmas Epiphanies. Her debut novel, also based on lived experience, is A Drop in the Ocean. A University of British Columbia MFA graduate, alumnus from The Writer’s Studio at Simon Fraser University, and member of PRISM International‘s poetry editorial board, find her beachcombing on the traditional, unceded land of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓- (Halkomelem) and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh- (Squamish) speaking peoples in BC.
