
Sofia Martimianakis
Sofia Martimianakis is a neurodiverse writer, renewable energy reporter, and photographer based in Toronto. She completed her undergraduate degree in English Literature at Trinity College, University of Toronto, and her MA in Literary Studies at the University of Waterloo.
Raised by two talented storytellers, who immigrated to Canada from Crete, Greece, Sofia’s work draws on her Greek heritage and summers spent abroad. Her poetry, nonfiction, and photography has been published in a variety of literary journals and she released Island Life to City Life as part of Heinemann’s Shared Reading Collection.
Sofia is passionate about sustainability and her work in the fantasy genre explores the possibility of an ecologically harmonious future. In her current role as an industry reporter and fractional marketing specialist, Sofia has written dozens of articles on topics ranging from solar energy technology to green hydrogen, electric vehicles, renewable energy software solutions, and methods for fostering diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces. One of the best parts of her job is the opportunity to interview and learn from inspiring individuals making strides around the world.
Sofia is an avid hiker who chases sunrises and misty mornings. She likes to bake almost as much as she enjoys photographing her creations. As a devoted Guider with the Girl Guides of Canada, Sofia has the honor of introducing young minds to the enchanting realm of creative writing. Alongside her husband, daughter and son, Sofia calls Midtown, Toronto, home.
